Indoor air quality matters, especially in spaces where people spend long hours every day, such as schools, healthcare facilities, retail interiors, hotels, and offices. UL Solutions’ GREENGUARD program is one of the best-known certifications focused specifically on chemical emissions (VOCs) into indoor air.

What GREENGUARD Gold means

UL GREENGUARD Gold is the program’s more stringent level. It sets even lower VOC emission limits and is designed for environments where sensitive groups may be present (for example, nurseries, schools, and healthcare facilities).

In addition to limiting emissions for more than 360 VOCs and total VOCs (TVOC), GREENGUARD Gold also requires compliance with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Standard Method (often referenced as California Section 01350).

For context, UL’s published criteria show a TVOC limit of 220 µg/m³ (0.22 mg/m³) for the Gold tier (compared to 500 µg/m³ for standard GREENGUARD in the same table).

What this means for print buyers and specifiers

For architects, brand owners, facility managers, and print service providers, GREENGUARD Gold helps de-risk indoor projects by providing an independent, documented emissions benchmark for materials used in interior environments.

SIGNRACER and GREENGUARD Gold

SIGNRACER first announced GREENGUARD Gold certification in 2022 for SIGNRACER IN and SR-100 HD UV inks.

Today, SIGNRACER highlights GREENGUARD Gold certification across key UV ink families, including:

  • SR-100 HD (multi-purpose, high solvent & scratch resistance)

  • SR-200+ (rigid-substrate performance inkset; GREENGUARD Gold referenced against UL 2818)

  • PREMIUMFLEX+ (flexible materials such as leather; GREENGUARD Gold indicated on the product page)

For procurement and documentation, SIGNRACER provides downloadable certificates on the relevant ink pages (where available).
