Indoor air quality matters, especially in spaces where people spend long hours every day, such as schools, healthcare facilities, retail interiors, hotels, and offices. UL Solutions' GREENGUARD program is one of the best-known certifications focused specifically on chemical emissions (VOCs) into indoor air.
What GREENGUARD Gold Means
GREENGUARD Gold applies lower emissions criteria than standard GREENGUARD and uses classroom and other defined exposure scenarios. SIGNRACER certificate documents issued under UL 2818 show a maximum predicted TVOC criterion of 0.22 mg/m³ for Gold and 0.50 mg/m³ for the standard tier; the Gold documents also reference the California Department of Public Health Standard Method.
What This Means for Print Buyers and Specifiers
For architects, brand owners, facility managers, and print service providers, a valid certificate provides an independent emissions benchmark for the tested product and stated application scope. It does not replace project-specific material approval or extend automatically to every ink, substrate, printer setup, or end use.
SIGNRACER and GREENGUARD Gold
SIGNRACER has published GREENGUARD and GREENGUARD Gold certificates for named UV ink families, including SR-100 HD, SR-200+, and PremiumFlex+. The certificate files currently held by SIGNRACER record periods ending 25 January 2025 and therefore do not establish current certification. Before specifying an ink, obtain a current certificate and confirm the exact product, restrictions, and planned application scope.
